Hacks to Keep Your Immunity Up

Hacks to Keep Your Immunity Up

Winter is tough on the body. The weather is constantly changing, we are indoors almost all of the time, and this year we are still battling COVID. Keep your body on the straight and narrow with a few at home tips.

Health is a lifelong journey, we are here to support yours.

1. BOOST YOUR DIET

Double down on immunity boosting foods. We all know this, but citrus fruits, spinach, broccoli, blueberries, sweet potatoes, eggs, garlic and ginger are all super fighters. Focus on foods that contain Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Vitamin B and Zinc. (Also, dark chocolate is always a winner 😉 )

2. GIVE LOVE TO YOUR GUT

Did you know that almost 70% of the immune system is based in the gut? Boosting the good bacteria in your body is like a secret weapon that makes for a stronger ability to fight back.

Probiotics
Fermented foods
Kombucha
Apple Cider Vinegar
Any and or all of these options would make a great addition to your daily routine.

3. STAY HYDRATED

Drink water. All the water. At its core, water helps dissolve nutrients so they are easier for the body to absorb. Additionally, staying hydrated will help you eliminate toxins and other bacteria that could build up in the body. Make a chart, keep track, reward yourself for hitting goals. Water does a body good.

4. KEEP IT MOVING

Exercise keeps the body strong, inside and out. You don’t have to hit up the Crossfit gym every day, moderate exercise boosts cardiovascular health and encourages production of new blood cells that activate the immune system. Go for walks, try yoga, take the stairs. Do what you can to get the blood pumping and help your body strengthen itself from the inside. Bonus: exercise is also a brain booster, so get sweating.

5. SLEEP!

This could not be more important. It may seem like a luxury these days, but quality sleep keeps us strong and boosts our body’s ability to fight off bugs. Additionally, lack of sleep can lead to heightened stress hormones and more internal inflammation. 7-9 hours is still recommended, so put down those devices and get the shut eye that will help your body reboot for tomorrow.
